I just drove this vehicle home from the BMW dealership and to the rental office this morning.  I got so many people looking and pointing at the vehicle on the Freeway and in Beverly Hills trying to figure out what type of BMW it was.  it kind of looks like a cross between the new BMW 750 and 535 with a sporty look and obviously convertible retractable soft top.

It drives amazingly soft and smooth for a sports car, lots of power and lots of new features and really easy to use functions inside the vehicle.  The all new screen that displays the navigation, radio and etc is really big.  The vehicle handles really sharp and I was at a light and was able to push the power top down in just a little less than 20 seconds before my light turned green.

I asked the BMW dealership why do they still make the BMW 650i rental in a soft retractable top instead of a hard top convertible?  They told me that BMW is the only car manufacturer who has a 50/50 ratio built into there vehicles.  The hard top will throw off that equal balance so they kill the idea.  I can truly understand that now by really taking it on a drive than when I just wast told that.

2011 Porsche Panamera with GPS/Navigation System

The performance is good. Porsche claims the rear-wheel-drive can complete the 0-to-62-mph task in 6.1 seconds and that its top speed is an ungoverned 161 mph.

The Panamera comes only with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, a.k.a. Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK). The ZF-sourced unit provides quick and seamless shifts. To offset missing the torque multiplication of a conventional automatic transmission, the first gear is extremely short for quick takeoff. But when high-speed launches aren’t on the menu, simply ease into the throttle, and the PDK will still engage first but almost instantly perform a smooth and virtually unnoticeable upshift to second gear, all while the dash-mounted gear indicator reads “2.” It’s a parlor trick done for fuel economy’s sake. With the PDK, you can intervene manually any time by means of the awkward push/pull steering-wheel buttons integrated into the spokes of the standard steering wheel. Or upgrade to a wheel with much, much, much more satisfying paddle shifters, which is also available on Porsche’s sports cars and is yet another entry on the Panamera’s shockingly extensive and expensive options list.

This new 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV is very similar to its sister the Cadillac Escalade.   The difference is between them is the ESV is a longer Sport Utility Vehicle compared to just the Escalade.  It has more leg room for the passengers and has way more luggage and storage space as well.

After awarding 10Best trophies to the BMW 3-series for the last 19 years in a row, it’s clear that we’re in love, even through multiple generations and model changes.

And for 2011, the two- and four-door 3-series grow even further apart visually. Up front, the nose has been smoothed and appears lower and wider, thanks to larger apertures for the trademark kidney grille and bigger bi-xenon headlamps. Replacing the current trio of lower air intakes is a squared-off, full-width opening with outboard fog lamps and a pair of horizontal chrome blades.  With new BMW 3 series we do look forward to staring down some Audis with the Bimmers’ bright new LED “angel eyes.”

The rear end also adopts slick LED lighting, as well as a new bumper, although the bumper is more sculpted, not less. New rocker panels and side mirrors round out the exterior changes. The nose job and butt lift add roughly an inch and a half of overall length, rendering the 2011 coupe and convertible the longest 3-series models ever.

Inside, the 2011 models newly designed (and still-optional) steering-wheel shift paddles for models equipped with automatic transmissions. Given how well-executed the intimate cabin of the 3-series is, no news is good news.
